Planting Guide
For a successful Straight 8 Cucumber crop:
- This variety thrives in full sunlight.
- Plant the seeds directly into the soil, as cucumbers don't transplant well.
- Sow the seeds 3' apart in groups of 4 to 6 per hill, covering them with 1/2 inch of soil.
- Thin the plants to 3 seedlings per hill when they reach 1 to 2" in height.
- Protect the seedlings from frost and use mulch to control weeds and conserve moisture.
Harvesting Guide
To optimize your Straight 8 Cucumber yield:
- Harvest your cucumbers when they're 6-8" long for slicing.
- For pickling, pick the cucumbers when they're 3-5" long.
- Cucumbers are most tender and flavorful when harvested young before their seeds fully mature.
- Always cut the fruit from the vine to prevent damage to the plant.
