How to Plant Your Bloomsdale Spinach

  • Bloomsdale Spinach likes plenty of sunlight.
  • Plant your seeds about 1/2 inch deep and spaced approximately 1" apart as soon as the soil is ready to be worked in the spring.
  • Organize your spinach patch in rows, leaving 12 to 18" of space between each row.
  • As the seedlings start to grow, thin them out so there are 2 to 6" of space between each plant.
  • If you've begun with seedlings indoors, wait until 3 to 6 weeks before the last spring frost to transplant them outside.

Keep in mind, spinach needs regular watering for optimal germination and to prevent early seed production, known as bolting.

Harvesting Your Bloomsdale Spinach:

Harvest your spinach leaves once they have grown large enough to eat. Make sure to pick them before they start turning yellow. When harvesting, use a knife to make a cut below the plant's crown.

Food of Our Ancestors—Proven through Thick and Thin
